Information for applicants
Since 1990, the International Foundation Masterclass Apeldoorn has been organizing annual masterclasses for talented classical music students or graduates of international conservatories in the disciplines of violin, clarinet, cello, piano and viola.
Masterclass Apeldoorn 2026 will take place from Tuesday 11 to Sunday 16 November 2025. The masters are:
- Violin: Philippe Graffin
- Clarinet: Charles Neidich
- Cello: Jeroen Reuling
- Piano: Nino Gvetadze/ Marisa Gupta
- Viola: Pierre-Henri Xuereb
Lessons are scheduled between November 3, 10:00 AM and Sunday, November 8, 5:00 PM.
Application procedure
If you want to be considered for a masterclass, you can apply before October 1, 2026.
The application must be accompanied by:
- A short CV in English,
- A photo (portrait format),
- Details of the musical education(s) you have followed,
- A recording of at least ten minutes with music played by you. This can be sent to: info@masterclass-apeldoorn.nl.
The relevant master assesses your level and your audition. We will let you know by October 15, 2026 whether you have been selected.
Fee
Participation fee is including lessons and full board.
The prices are:
€ 830,- for a room for 3 or 4 persons
€ 925,- for a double room
€ 1.150,- for a single room
The price for participation is 850 euros. This includes:
- 4 individual lessons from a master,
- Stay in Stayokay Hostel Apeldoorn, Asselsestraat 330, 7312 TS Apeldoorn, in a double room (a single room is available at an additional cost on a limited scale),
- All meals,
- Participation in concerts,
- Participation in performances at various locations in the city,
- Use of a bicycle during the masterclass week,
- Certificate of participation.
The participant must take care of the transport to and from Stayokay, all necessary travel documents and insurance.
Further information
Breakfast and dinner are buffet style at Stayokay. Lunch is taken at the class or study location. The student puts together a packed lunch for this during breakfast. The lesson locations are:
- Stayokay (cello, clarinet),
- Jachtlaankerk, Jachtlaan 143, 7313 CW Apeldoorn (violin, viola),
- Goede Herderkerk, Asselsestraat 199, 7312 CS Apeldoorn (all instruments).
- Kobald Pianos, Asselsestraat 167, 7311 EK Apeldoorn (piano). The piano students can also go to host families where a piano is available.
The cello, clarinet, violin and viola lessons are facilitated by a rehearsal director.
At all lesson locations, you can study at will between lessons (in Stayokay this is possible in your own room). All locations are accessible by bicycle.
Program
The organization of Masterclass Apeldoorn welcomes the students on Tuesday 3 November from from 15:00 PM in Stayokay. After dinner there will be an informal meeting.
Wednesday 4 November is all about lessons, studying and rehearsing for the concerts.
On Thursday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m., a special concert will take place in the Jachtlaankerk: the Festival, which is offered by Masterclass Apeldoorn in return to the Municipality of Apeldoorn (one of our main sponsors). The students perform a well-known piece of music in various compositions that has been rehearsed in advance. The program is interspersed with performances by Apeldoorn artists. The direction is in the hands of Anne-Marieke Evers. The Festival is free of charge and attracts a varied audience.
On Friday 6 November , the students will go on tour to provide a free performance for the residents at various places in the city. Transport is by bicycle or by car. They play easy-to-rehearse pieces of music and/or pieces that are recognizable to the audience. On that evening at 7.30 p.m., the Grand Event Masters and Students in Concert, Part One, will also take place at the Jachtlaankerk. During this concert, the masters also let their students excel. Transport is by bicycle or by car.
On Saturday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m., the Second part of Masters and Students in Concert will take place in the Jachtlaankerk. The students present their rehearsed pieces of music. This is also the farewell concert for the students and the certificates are awarded, although the masterclass week is not over yet: the lessons continue until Sunday.
On Sunday 16 November , students must have left their room in Stayokay by 10:00 a.m. at the latest, regardless of the time of their lessons. The luggage can be stored in Stayokay until after the lessons. It will then no longer be possible to study in Stayokay; at the other lesson locations studying can go on. There is no dinner available on this last day.
