Wanting Cheng

Wanting Cheng, piano Originally from Chongqing, China, pianist Wanting Cheng has mesmerized audiences with a rare combination of interpretive insight, musical sensitivity and pianistic command. Currently pursuing a master degree, Wanting studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, with Professor Kirill Gerstein. Her previous education includes Manhattan School of Music New York with Professor Jeffrey Cohen, and the affiliated middle school the Central Conservatory of Music Beijing with Professor Zhiwei Zhang. Wanting has won several prizes including the winner of the 2017 Dora Zaslavsky Koch Concerto Competition, the 2 nd place at the "Cadanza Cup" National Piano Competition in China, the winner of the Lilian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition in 2016 and 2015. She has also received awards such as the 2017 Roy M. RubensteinAward for her exceptional promise in piano performance, the 2017 Mieczyslaw Munz Scholarship, and the Edith Kriss Scholarship from 2013 to 2019 which provided her full scholarship during her study at the Manhattan School of Music.
