Not all good musical activities have come to a standstill. Due to the Corona crisis it is impossible for Charles Neidich to travel to Apeldoorn this year for the Master Class Chamber Music, but we are very happy to present a Corona safe Master Class with Charles Neidich at Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 September 2020 online!

 

Online Master Class Clarinet for advanced players

There will be four time slots at these two days. Every participant will attend to his or hers own “private” Master Class, but is also welcome at the other lessons. You can ask questions, participate in excersises etc. Listeners (audience) are welcome to all Master Classes.

A Master Class of two hours will be (roughly) divided in two parts. During the first Charles Neidich will be working on a piece brought in by the participant. During the second half Neidich will pay special attention to one of more topics from the list below.

The Master Classes will be held in Playwithapro platform. After application and acceptance you will recieve an e-mail with futher information.
Please note: As participant you will need a good and stable internet connection and a reasonable microphone. You can use Mac, PC or laptop, don’t use a cell phone.

  • General Topics of the second part of the Master Class by Charles Neidich:The basics of expressive technique on the clarinet (and on all wind instruments)
    - Exercises for fingers and embouchure
    - Ways to warm up and what is important for a daily routine
    - How understanding the overtones (partials we also call them) of the clarinet will enable one to     play well in all registers from low to high.
  • The techniques of circular breathing and double tonguing.
  • What period instruments can tell us (a brief history of the clarinet).
